A common technique in symbolic and visualization-based practices is the creation of a mental link between two people, two objects, or a person and an object. The purpose of this exercise is to strengthen awareness of the relationship between them, helping to reduce the likelihood of loss, separation, or forgetfulness.
For example, a person may choose to create a symbolic connection between themselves and a frequently carried item such as a purse, wallet, or set of keys. Others may use the same technique to reinforce a sense of connection with a child, family member, or loved one.
The exercise begins by deciding what two things will be linked together. Find a quiet space where interruptions are unlikely. The practice can be performed either standing or sitting, with the eyes open or closed according to personal preference.
Start by relaxing and clearing the mind. Once calm and focused, imagine two small spheres of energy suspended in front of the body. Place one person or object inside the sphere on the left and the other inside the sphere on the right. Take time to visualize them clearly.
Next, imagine holding each sphere firmly in the corresponding hand. With a strong intention to connect the two, visualize a powerful stream of energy flowing between them. At first, this connection may appear as a bright bolt of electricity linking the spheres together.
As concentration deepens, see the energy becoming denser and stronger. Gradually, the electrical current transforms into a solid cord or cable that joins the two spheres. Imagine this connection growing increasingly stable, resilient, and secure.
Once the connection feels strong, test it within the imagination. Picture forces attempting to break the link—a pair of giant scissors, a powerful explosion, or any other challenge that comes to mind. Each attempt fails. Instead of weakening, the connection becomes even stronger.
Continue this visualization until the sense of permanence feels complete. Finally, allow the images to fade naturally. Let the spheres dissolve, lower the hands, and return attention to the present moment. The symbolic link remains in place, representing a lasting and resilient connection between the chosen people or objects.
