This visualisation exercise is designed to help focus attention on a loved one’s recovery and well-being. Before beginning, it is important to consider whether the person genuinely wants to recover. Sometimes people may unconsciously hold onto illness because it provides comfort, attention, support, or other emotional benefits. When working with another person, these underlying feelings can influence the process.
Begin by sitting comfortably with the person and taking a few moments to relax and clear the mind. Place one hand gently on their body wherever it feels most appropriate. This may be over the affected area, but it does not have to be. Simply focus on sensing the person’s overall energy and presence.
Next, imagine a timeline stretching from left to right. The left side represents the past, while the right side represents the future. Visualise the person standing at the centre of this timeline in the present moment. Keeping one hand on their body, imagine moving the other hand along the timeline into the future. Search for a moment when the person is completely healthy and free from illness. This may appear as an image of them enjoying an activity they could only do when feeling well.
If a healthy future image is difficult to find, move instead into the past and locate a time when the person was in excellent health. Once this image or feeling is found, focus on it deeply. Recall their vitality, happiness, and strength until the impression becomes vivid and clear.
Imagine this healthy state enclosed within a sphere of light or energy. The colour and appearance of the sphere can be whatever best represents wellness and healing. Visualise drawing this sphere toward the person and guiding it into their body. As this occurs, imagine any sense of illness or imbalance leaving, creating space for the healthy energy to take its place.
Allow the sphere to dissolve into the person, filling them with the qualities of health, strength, and well-being. Hold the image of them as already healthy and recovered. Once this feeling is established, release the visualisation and conclude the exercise, trusting that the process is complete.
