110Creating a Mental Shield for Health and Safety

This visualisation exercise is designed to encourage feelings of safety, confidence, and emotional protection when facing stressful environments, illness, difficult situations, or hazardous conditions. It can be especially useful for people who regularly work around physical risks, high-pressure settings, or environments that may affect wellbeing. It may also be practised simply as a calming routine to reinforce a sense of personal security and balance.

Begin by choosing a quiet space where interruptions are unlikely. The exercise can be performed either sitting comfortably or standing upright. Start by relaxing the body and allowing the mind to settle. Slow, steady breathing can help create a calm state of focus.

If seated, place the hands near the stomach. If standing, allow the hands to rest naturally at the sides. Slowly raise the hands upward and outward while imagining a sphere of protective energy forming around the body. Picture this sphere expanding until it completely surrounds the entire body from head to toe. Imagine this space as a secure personal boundary — a place of safety, strength, and protection.

Once the sphere feels clearly established, begin thinking about any worries, risks, illnesses, stressful situations, or harmful influences that may be affecting wellbeing. Visualise each concern individually and notice whether it appears inside or outside the protective sphere.

If a concern already appears outside the sphere, recognise that it no longer has power within this protected space. Allow it to drift away naturally. If any threat appears inside the sphere, imagine physically moving it outward. Some people find it helpful to use hand movements while doing this, as physical actions can strengthen focus and intention.

One by one, push each unwanted influence beyond the boundary of the sphere. Once outside, imagine the protective energy becoming solid and impenetrable. Nothing harmful can re-enter unless permission is given.

After all worries or dangers have been removed, bring both hands together and imagine gathering energy and strength. Then, in one smooth motion, extend the hands outward and upward. Visualise the protective sphere expanding rapidly in every direction, like a powerful burst of light. As it expands, it carries every remaining threat far away into the distance until nothing harmful remains nearby.

Finally, focus attention on feelings of safety, wellbeing, and calm. Allow the body to relax fully while holding onto the sense of protection created during the exercise. The aim is not to control exactly how safety appears, but to reinforce confidence, awareness, and emotional resilience while moving through daily life.
