Candles

The candle goes out before completely burning

In witchcraft, candles are commonly used to help focus intention and energy during spells and rituals. Occasionally, you might notice that a candle used in your practice goes out before it has finished burning.

For those new to witchcraft, this experience can be confusing or even discouraging. However, it is helpful to know that a candle extinguishing itself can have several possible meanings. One frequent interpretation is that the spell being performed may not be the best fit for your current needs. In this situation, you might consider trying a different spell, or you could focus on clarifying your intention and making sure your materials are well-prepared.

Another reason a candle may go out early is the presence of outside influences. Sometimes, other people—either knowingly or unknowingly—can create energetic resistance that affects your spellwork. This resistance can cause the candle to extinguish before the ritual is complete.

If this happens, it can be helpful to pause and review your process. You may want to cleanse your space, ground yourself, and begin your spellwork again. Adding protective items, such as salt, crystals, or certain herbs, can also help strengthen your intentions.

It is important to remember that setbacks are a normal part of any spiritual journey. Every experience, even those that do not go as planned, can teach you something valuable. By practicing patience and staying curious, you will continue to grow your skills and deepen your understanding of witchcraft.
