Astral Travel: Known as Astral Projection

Astral travel, also known as astral projection, is a concept found in many spiritual traditions. It describes an experience where a part of your consciousness—sometimes called the “astral body” or “spirit”—is believed to leave your physical body and visit other places, realms, or dimensions. This usually happens while your physical body is at rest, such as during deep meditation or sleep.

For those new to this idea, astral travel can be understood as a vivid and controlled out-of-body experience. People often describe sensations like floating, flying, or seeing their own body from above. Some also report visiting faraway locations, meeting spiritual guides, or exploring symbolic landscapes. These experiences can feel very real, even though they do not happen in the physical world.

Astral travel is not considered a rare or supernatural ability. Many believe it is a skill that anyone can develop with time and practice. Common methods include meditation, visualization, and relaxation exercises. Sometimes, people experience astral travel spontaneously, such as during dreams or moments of deep relaxation.

It is normal to feel unsure or even a little nervous about the idea of leaving your body in this way. Most traditions, however, teach that astral travel is generally safe when approached with respect and clear intention. If you are interested in learning more, you might start by reading about others’ experiences, practicing grounding techniques, and trying gentle guided meditations designed for beginners.
Keep in mind that astral travel is just one of many practices on the spiritual path. Whether or not you choose to explore it, your journey is unique and personal.
