Gentleman’s Mix

This blend is called the Gentleman’s Mix.

Many potpourri and sachet blends are known for their floral or sweet scents. However, these fragrances may not always be ideal for a more masculine setting. The Gentleman’s Mix is created to provide a balanced, earthy, and refreshing aroma. While it works well in a man’s wardrobe, it can also be enjoyed by anyone who prefers a less floral fragrance. The following ingredients are used in this blend:

Begin with one quarter pint of lemon verbena leaves. Lemon verbena offers a crisp, citrus scent that adds a clean and uplifting note.

Next, add one tablespoon of mint leaves. Mint brings a cool, invigorating aroma that pairs well with lemon verbena and helps freshen enclosed spaces.

Include one tablespoon of cloves. Cloves add a warm, spicy undertone, giving the blend depth and a subtle sweetness.

Add one tablespoon of rosemary. Rosemary’s herbal, slightly pine-like fragrance introduces complexity and a touch of sharpness, making the scent more robust.

Use one quarter pint of raspberry leaves. Raspberry leaves have a mild scent and serve as a gentle base, balancing the stronger aromas and adding body to the mixture.

Prepare one tablespoon of a lemon and orris root mixture. Orris root is commonly used as a fixative in potpourri, helping to preserve and stabilize the fragrance. When combined with lemon, it enhances the citrus notes and helps the scent last longer.

Add one tablespoon of a mint and orris root mixture. This combination strengthens the fresh, cool qualities of mint, while the orris root continues to act as a fixative.

Finally, include one tablespoon of an oregano and orris root mixture. Oregano brings a subtle, earthy spiciness, and the orris root again helps to bind the scent.

To assemble the blend, place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Stir gently to ensure the herbs and spices are evenly distributed. (short pause)

After mixing, transfer the blend into a large glass jar or a polythene bag. Seal the container tightly to keep the fragrance inside.

Store the sealed mixture in a cool, dark place for two to four weeks. During this time, the scents will combine and mature. Shaking the jar or bag every few days can help the aromas blend more evenly.

Once the resting period is complete, the Gentleman’s Mix is ready for use. It can be placed in sachets for drawers or wardrobes, or displayed in a bowl to gently scent a room. This blend provides a refreshing, balanced fragrance that is both distinctive and versatile.
