Be careful with figurines (animal or otherwise) you want to bring into your home. It doesn’t matter if you are a magician, wiccan, witch, cunning-man/woman or any magical practitioner worth their salt, there will always be a certain concentration of spirits in and around your house. They are drawn to you, your magic and anything in your home that can provide a house for them.
An empty vessel does not exist in a magical household. A potential window for parasitical beings does. Especially figurines with eyes, claws and pointy teeth seem to be favorites. But also saint statues that aren’t cleaned and blessed properly can become the home of a nasty critter or hungry entity that really enjoys your prayers, candles and offerings.
Sometimes when you buy antique- or vintage – statues from second hand shops you’ll find that a figurine or religious item (like a crucifix) feels like there is something in it. Be careful with this. In most cases, this is the accumulation of years and years of serving as a focus object for lay people. This can easily be cleaned up, or fine tuned. Depending on what you want. If you find that something is living in it, then it is when you have to be careful. Either the figurine/statue/religious object has been in a home of a magical practitioner in some way, shape or form. Or at one point, has been blessed by a priest (which is not unthinkable when it comes to, let’s say, a rosary/a holy water font/a crucifix) or it has had the misfortune of becoming a home to something.
